08:26am
(2019)
A dense installation piece exploring the complexity of the human psyche in the form of a caged, mechanical, humanoid zoo, “08:26am” is a darkly humourous work, critical of human compliance with technology as part of our daily lives.
Clichés from the corporate world act as a vehicle to represent first-person experiences from everyday life. Mechatronic sculptures perform a choreographed theatre incorporating automated movement, sound, light and video. The non-linear vignettes are highlighted individually to evoke fragments of dream-states, decision making, and emotional responses that make up the human psyche.
Showing at The Art Gallery of Ballarat, 14 December 2019 – 22 March 2020.
Commissioned by The Art Gallery of Ballarat and supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.
